breaking news out of northwest baltimore. there was a two alarm blaze this morning. >> jennifer franciotti is live at the scene in northwest with more. good morning. >> that fire is under control. firefighters are putting out some hot spots. it looks like a portion of liberty heights was shut down. in looks like traffic has reopened. fire fighters were using a fire hydrant along liberty heights. the fire started about 3:30 this morning on hillsdale. it happened to a vacant house. the intensity of the fire was so big that it's spread to two adjacent homes. one of the homes had been turned into a nursing home with four residents. they were safely evacuated. no injuries reported there. the other house, there was one occupant inside. he got out safely. no one was inside the vacant house. it did go to two alarms because of the intensity of the fire. firefighters were able to make a good knock on the fire and get everything under control. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. fire equipment remains on the scene. reporting live, jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> it thank you.

out around 4:00 a.m. this morning. jennifer franciotti is live on the scene with the latest. >> the fire is now out and no one was hurt. it was on hillsdale, about half a block north of liberty heights. liberty heights is now shut down in both directions. kevin is here from the baltimore city fire department. nobody was hurt in this fire. >> it is a very good thing. we never look forward to a fire breaking out in someone's home. we hope to have an escape plan in place. >> this was a home but it was a vacant dwelling. nobody was inside at the time. there was a nursing home next door. >> because of the intensity of the fire, the intensity -- the intense heat and heavy smoke billowed over to an adjacent nursing home occupied with about four patients. they were quickly evacuated and taken to another facility. there was damage because of the heat at a nearby home. there was one occupant there and we were able to get them out. >> because of the fire still under investigation? >> correct. no firefighters were civilians suffered any injuries. >> it looks like liberty heights is begi

. that ends her 15-year run. let's go live to jennifer franciotti with the latest. >> the race has not been officially called, but with 290 precincts in, gregg bernstein leads the race by 1421 votes. this is for the democratic primary. patricia jessamy supporters were feeling pretty good tuesday night. they were keeping a positive attitude about the race. she showed up to thank everyone and said she was feeling confident about the race. the bernstein campaign was cautiously optimistic about tuesday's results. poll workers spent the day at the precinct. they took the day off to support bernstein. bernstein talked a little about why he thinks he was able to make such headway. >> it came to the level of frustration people were feeling about living in one of america's most dangerous cities. i do not know if it is a question of what patricia jessamy did or did not do. >> it is important to note these numbers are unofficial. the bernstein campaign has 49% of the vote while the jessamy campaign has 47% of the vote. reporting live, jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> the voting tally for execu
and gregg bernstein. in the in, bernstein came out on top. jennifer franciotti is live with more on the outcome. >> that race was so close that a lot of the results were not in until 1:45 this morning. all of the precincts have reported in. bernstein has 49% of the vote and jessamy, 47%. early on, patricia jessamy were in a good mood and celebrating the woman and her career. many here were hopeful the city state's attorney would get another term. jessamy was optimistic. >> it has been a pleasure to be out among the citizens of baltimore city. >> supporters of gregg bernstein rallied to watch the returns. he came to thank his supporters. many spent the day at the preccts. they took the day off to support bernstein. he talked about how his campaign was able to gain so much traction. >> i think what made this race become such a focal point was it captains to the level of frustration people were feeling about living in one of america's most dangerous cities. i do not know if it is a question of what patricia jessamy did or didn't do. it was people's frustration with crime in the city
firefighters put to the test with two four-alarm fires yesterday. >> jennifer franciotti with more on that story. >> it was quite a scene yesterday. firefighters were busy fighting fires to 11 houses on two niche blocks. all but two houses were vacant. five rowhouses went up in flames there. then three more caught fire on the other side. firefighters rushed to houses on the next block. everyone did get out safely. no word on what caused the first fire, but officials are pretty sure of what happened on north cary street. >> one consideration is there may have been embers that may have been blown from one fire across the street to the next may have ignited that one. we don't know at this point. >> in all 100 firefighters responded. one firefighter suffered minor injuries. mindy back to you. >> a 34-year-old columbia man who survived an apartment fire is charged with not only setting the blaze, but killing his ex-wife moments earlier. damon white set fire to the apartment to cover up the murder of the 35-year-old woman. she obtained a restraining order against her husband in 2008. >>
